Gutter Repair vs. Replacement

When Repair Makes Sense

If your gutter system is generally in good condition but has a specific issue — a leaking joint, a sagging section, a damaged downspout — targeted repair is usually the most cost-effective option. A few hundred dollars in repairs can extend the life of a system by years.

Repairs make sense when the overall system is structurally sound, properly pitched, and the right size for your roof. If 90% of the system works fine, replacing the whole thing would be wasteful.

When Replacement Is Better

If your gutters have multiple failing points — leaks at several seams, widespread sagging, undersized gutters that overflow regularly, or significant rust and corrosion — replacement is the better investment.

Old sectional gutter systems with 20+ seam connections are especially good candidates for replacement with modern seamless gutters. You're not just getting new gutters — you're eliminating most of the leak points that caused the problems.

The Fascia Factor

If your fascia boards are rotted or damaged, that needs to be addressed regardless of whether you repair or replace the gutters. In many cases, fascia damage discovered during a repair assessment tips the decision toward full replacement — since the gutters need to come off for fascia work anyway.

Eli's Approach

Eli will always give you an honest assessment. If a repair will solve your problem effectively, he'll recommend the repair. If replacement is the smarter long-term investment, he'll explain why. You'll never be pushed toward a more expensive option when a simpler solution works.
